Preschool expulsion prevention has become a collective and systemic responsibility for early childhood educators.
Young children are being expelled from preschools and child care programs at an alarming rate, often because of challenging behaviors that caregivers feel unprepared to manage. Over a decade of research and data show that policies and practices of suspension and expulsion in early childhood, which disproportionately affect children of color, cause harm to children and families.
Southwest Human Development will present a conference on preschool expulsion prevention on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 8 am until 2:30 pm at the Desert Willow Conference Center located at 4340 E. Cotton Center Blvd., Phoenix, AZ, 85040.
The conference is designed for participants who work in programs serving children birth to twelve that have a current registration agreement with the Department of Economic Security Child Care Administration (DES funded sites and homes only).
The session is free and includes five hours of training. Lunch will be provided.
